Make and search documents from Slack
On the Slack tab under Automation & links, you connect a Slack bot to PRING in three steps: (1) create a Slack app from the PRING settings file (2) paste the Signing Secret and Bot token and check them (3) create the identity-check app in kintone and register its API token. Then each person connects through the link sent in Slack and can make and search documents there. Pro and above.
When you need this
- I want to make or search kintone documents from Slack
- I want to be sure which kintone person each Slack person is
- I want to decide, app by app, which kintone apps Slack can use
How PRING solves it: Slack integration lets people talk to the PRING bot in Slack to make and search documents. Each person is checked by the "Created by" value that kintone records, so a name cannot be faked, and you decide app by app which apps Slack can use.
What this page covers
- The steps to set up the PRING bot so people can make and search documents in Slack
- How a Slack person and a kintone person are matched by the creator
- How to choose the apps Slack can use, and how to stop or disconnect
Steps
Slack integration is available on Pro and above. Expense requests from a photo of a receipt, approval buttons, notifications and MCP become available one after another.
1. Create the Slack app
On the settings screen, choose "Automation & links" in the top row, open the Slack tab and press "Copy settings file" (or "Download"). In Slack, open "Create an app" (it opens in a new window), choose "From a manifest", choose your own workspace and paste the settings file. Press "Create", then "Install to workspace", and allow it. The PRING settings file (manifest) asks only for the permissions it needs, and does not read channel history.
2. Paste the two Slack values and check them
Paste the Signing Secret from "Basic Information" and the Bot User OAuth Token (starting with xoxb-) from "Install App" in the Slack app, then press "Check". PRING keeps them encrypted and never shows them on the screen again. You see "This connects to "Company name" (bot: name). Is this the right Slack?". If it is right, press "Yes, this Slack". If not, press "No (paste again)".
3. Create the identity-check app
On the Slack tab, press "Create the app" and PRING creates the identity-check app "PRING Slack 連携" in kintone. If it already exists, you see "Using the existing app". The person is checked by the "Created by" value that kintone records, so a name cannot be faked. If PRING could not be added automatically, add PRING under "Plug-ins" in that app's settings.
4. Register the API token
Create an "API token" for the identity-check app. View permission is enough. Register the token on the API tab of the settings screen, then press "I registered it".
5. Each person connects Slack and kintone
When a person talks to the PRING bot in Slack, a link to connect arrives. Opening the link on the Slack card shows the "link dialog" in kintone, with the Slack name and email next to the name and email of the person logged in. If they match, press "Connect". A record is added to the identity-check app as that person, and the PRING server checks the creator and links the two. To cancel, press "Cancel".
6. Choose the apps Slack can use
After connecting, under "Apps used from Slack" on the Slack tab, choose "Not used", "Read only" or "Read and write" for each app. Only apps you also allow under "Access per app" on the API tab can be used from Slack.
What the screen shows
The Slack tab shows the current status. One line below it tells you what to do next.
| Status | Meaning | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| Not set up | Slack integration has not been started | Start from “Copy settings file” in step 1 |
| Waiting for the app | The Slack app is being created, and the two values have not been checked yet | Paste the Signing Secret and the Bot User OAuth Token, then press “Check” |
| Confirm the workspace | A Slack was found with the pasted values and is waiting for your confirmation | Answer “This connects to “Company name” (bot: name). Is this the right Slack?” with “Yes, this Slack” or “No (paste again)” |
| Preparing the identity app | The identity-check app “PRING Slack 連携” is not ready to use yet | Press “Create the app”, register the API token on the API tab and press “Registered” |
| Connected | Slack can use PRING | Check the “People” table and “Apps used from Slack” |
| Needs setup again | The settings need to be done again | Follow “What to do next” on the screen |
| Paused | You pressed “Pause the Slack integration” | Follow “What to do next” on the screen |
The screen after connecting
| Place | What it shows |
|---|---|

When something does not work
| Symptom or message | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “The value has the wrong format. Paste the Signing Secret and the Bot User OAuth Token starting with xoxb- as they are.” | The pasted value does not have the right format | Paste the Signing Secret from “Basic Information” and the Bot User OAuth Token (starting with xoxb-) from “Install App” again, as they are, and press “Check” |
| “Slack did not accept this Bot token. …” | Slack did not accept the pasted Bot token | Copy the Bot User OAuth Token from “Install App” again, paste it and press “Check”. Read the reason that follows the message too |
| “This Slack is already connected to another contract.” | The Slack workspace you tried to connect is connected to another contract | Check that it is the right Slack workspace. If you do not recognize it, send your kintone subdomain through the contact form (https://pring.tech/en/contact) |
| “This is a different workspace from the Slack you connected before. Press “Disconnect” first.” | You pasted values of a different workspace from the one connected before | Press “Disconnect” under “Pause / disconnect” (it runs when you press it again), then paste the values again |

Frequently asked questions
Which plans include it?
Pro and above. On a lower plan you see "Slack integration is available on the Pro plan." Check your plan on the Plans & pricing tab.
